This is a fantastic airshow that's up close and personal. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds have appeared here twice and the Navy Blue Angels once in the last 3 years. This years "Heavy Hitters" have not been announced, but there is sure to be a good show. The Lima-Lima Squadron out of Aroura, Il. put on an impressive show culminating with the very moving Missing Man ceremony. The Heritage Flight is always a crowd pleaser. The static displays have included a B-52 that you can actually walk up to and kick the tires. Previors years have included fly overs by B-1 and B-2 bombers and an F-117 as well. The F-15 Demonstration team does their thing quite well. See www.flyrfd.com for a complete run down of Air Fest 2009.

My wife appreciates my love for planes and was happy to start out at 9:30AM to see the Rockford Airfest. After 3 hours of trying to get into the airfield for a parking place, we left.

Talking to a cop who wouldn't allow us to view the field from the circular road surrounding the place, we discovered the city wouldn't hire any traffic cops and thus things were chaos.

We left and drove 4 hours for nothing. Go again? No.

i would like to volunteer again this year. I drove golf carts shuffling people to and from the air show. I work with janet champlin at general mills and she told me to register now. Any questions call me at 815-621-0302 or e-mail me at tknewbs@comcast.net. Thanks tom newberg

I'd like to know the exact planned schedule for each event so I know when I must be there. EDITORS' REPLY: For details on airshows, contact the organizers or the venue, or visit their websites.

This year was my first time to the Rockford Airfest. I bought tickets for this airshow online, around Christmas time and was looking forward to the show, ever since I bought the tickets.

I can honestly say that the Rockford Airfest is one of the best airshows in the state of Illinois. Rockford Airfest attracts a number of top performers in the United States, including the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds. The 2011 airshow was a tier 1 event for the Centennial of Naval Aviation and was well done.

I cannot wait until Rockford Airfest 2012. Thanks Rockford

Kevin

This was my first time attending the airshow, and I can honestly say I wasn't all that impressed with the way the ticket booth was set up. I stood in line for 45 minutes waiting to purchase to my ticket, only to find out that I had to go stand in another line for about 25 minutes, just to enter through the gates. I was like: "are you serious?" I think they really need to revamp the whole ticket booth thing. Jeez. Usually when you have purchased your ticket, you are able to enter the event at that moment.
