The U.S. Air Force and Strategic Air Command compiled a map showing known missile installations in Cuba, potential targets of a US invasion by land, and the need for further aerial photographs. The U.S. Naval Air Station at Guantanamo Bay is in the far southeast of Cuba.

I was a 19year old at Amerillo Tx AFB attending Air Craft Mech. School for 2 engines & over (B-47).Last weeks of school in Oct 1962. We seniors were told to pack for "possible" movement to Eglin AFB Fla to support acft there. We ended up in a tent city there for 2 days. OMG--Never so many fighters & bombers & RF-4, RF-101,even an "old EC-121". Always thought the "Connie" was a cool plane. I was on pins an needles for 4 days there. And not much info on what the hell was going on. But the around the clock Sorties out of there. I knew we were in the "Go to War Mode".Thanks for the memory. WOW.
USAF, Civil Service (USN) for 25 yrs. Acft Mech.
