It's not wrong . . . just different. Besides, if any of these were likely candidates for restoration to airworthy status, they would have been already.

The purpose of art is supposedly to create an emotional response in the person that is exposed to that art. In that regard, they succeeded. My response is, I don't like it. A DC-3 or a C-45, even an old one, is a work of art by itself. They don't need a bunch of graffitis.

My husband and I just returned from a visit to this exhibit. We spent quite a bit of time enjoying the artwork, but we noticed that most other visitors spent virtually no time at all admiring or commenting, perhaps even noticing much. Alas, this is the fate of much art--to be cast before the Philistines, of whom a couple of the previous commenters seem to be examples. C'mon guys, don't you have any sense of fun or whimsey? Did you even look at what had been painted on the aircraft? If you had inspected the work, instead of dismissing it out of hand, you might have noticed what the artists were trying to express. Or not (sigh).

I don't like it. It's disrespectful to those who served. boneyard or not these aircraft represent guys that served their country. Through the blood sweat and tears, in god awfull conditions, they hauled our wounded and dead. Even in peacetime they still mean something to me. It's just not art to me.

These are old machines, machines that once flew, but MACHINES!!!
Yeah, some of the art work I'm not crazy about, some of it's just slightly cool, some of its pretty cool.
Getting upset because they once served the country... well, how many 32 Fords once served to get your grandaddy around that wound up with flames painted on them?
As far as being disrespectful goes, that doesn't really come into play here
How many P 51's, Corsairs, and other Unlimited Class Reno Racers fly in their original colors?
Come to think of it, ever check out the paint jobs on some of the Tiger Meet fighters? Way cool paint jobs! You know that those wrench benders who keep those birds flying have a lot of hot rodder in them, (and yeah... that's my idea of ART!) and it's fun.
You can't say that a fighter is designed as anything besides a machine that deals out death, that is it's sole purpose in existing. That doesn't mean that they can't be fun though, does it?

OUTSTANDING!
All the naysayers should go to airliners.net and check out some of the hundreds of aircraft that have been painted since planes have been built. Then go look up some of the sites that show the hundreds and hundreds of planes that are setting in the dry desert areas of the U.S. never to be used again except maybe for scrap, and those are the lucky ones.

These folks should find a better canvas and parade it in front of those that might like their work. It's bad enough that these wonderful aircraft are sitting in the bone-yard in the first place. There should be more protection available. Aircraft in the bone-yard could be subject to damage that could be difficult and costly to any future restoration.
It's simply wrong!
We have free speech which is great, but do we have to have free art? Graffiti is graffiti it has negative appeal to the masses. Do we really want the whole world to look like the inner-city. I think not.

I do not like it! I love DC-3s. To have graffiti all over them is an insult to these great airplanes, It's a good thing I wasn't there when this was done...

I a veteran of the Air Force, & I agree, its sicking, its does not look good, does the planes no justice. They should put their energy, talent, time, towards something useful, & that's beneficial.
