Cabin Fever
Designer Karl Lagerfeld wanted to ensure a high-flying reception for Chanel's Spring 2012 Couture collection on January 25, so he commissioned an airplane for the Grand Palais exhibition center in Paris. A fleet of set workers spent five days constructing a mock airliner of anodized aluminum, with an aisle running 164 feet, a slatted roof with simulated clouds, and 250 seats that each swivel 180 degrees to catch the supermodels strutting their new stuff. Its cockpit was formed by hologram.
