Painting of the Green
This month the Navy took delivery of its first production model of the P-8A Poseidon, which will be used as an anti-submarine platform and for surveillance and reconnaissance. Poseidons are based on the Boeing 737-800, and though painted a vivid green for flight testing (above), production models are standard Navy gray. At Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, six more flightworthy and two ground-test Poseidons have logged 1,500 hours of tests, such as last month's drop of a simulated torpedo.
