Watch Out, Galaxies!
The Hubble Space Telescope sent back this image of two impressive spiral galaxies seemingly crashing into each other. Our view is a "chance alignment" in the sky, as the Hubble team notes. The face-on spiral galaxy, NGC 3314A is ten million light years closer than NGC 3314B -- or about ten times the distance between the Milky Way and our closest neighbor, Andromeda.
