Inspecting the Underside
NASA's Curiosity team is fulling embracing the anthropomorphized rover story for this most recent mission on Mars. The first-person Twitter account is entertaining and informative. Today NASA released a bunch of self-portraits; with the Mars Hand Lends Imager at the end of its main arm, Curiosity can inspect quite a bit of its body. This positively WALL-E portrait shows the rover's abs -- well, its underbelly anyway, along with the hazard avoidance cameras by its wheels. We noticed the file name for this image is PIA16133_modest.jpg, but don't worry little rover, no one will see you blushing on a red planet.
