Tiny Radio Sats in Orbit
We tweeted yesterday about five amateur radio cubesats that were about to be released from the International Space Station. You can read here how Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide successfully deployed the little satellites -- the first time this was done from the station without a spacewalk. The slightly surreal image above almost seems like an artist rendering, but it's an actual photograph taken from the station, with the solar array and Earth in the background.
