Smile for the Propoganda
Five soldiers sit on the trailer carrying a captured German airplane on the front in France during World War World I. The description by the National Library of Scotland explains why the photo was likely taken:
It was important for official photographers to record the looting of German trenches, the capturing of German military vehicles and planes and other equipment, because it made for very good propaganda to print in the newspapers back home.
