Sixty-five and a half years

Earlier this summer, as staffers at the National Air and Space Museum were refurbishing the Apollo lunar lander, this replica of Neil Armstrong's lunar suit was briefly available for a nice shot by Matthew Breitbart, an intern with the museum's Photo Services. Breitbart captured the real Wright Flyer reflected in the gold visor. Click here for a higher res image. Imagine being born on December 17, 1890, into a world where efforts at powered flight had gone nowhere for all human history. On your 13th birthday, humans solve the flying riddle. And when you're 79 and a half, humans walk on the moon. Nothing to it.
