Wing Suit In Flight
“I learned about it last winter and decided I was going to jump it the second I found out it existed,” says Jeb Corliss, speaking of The Crack. It’s a code name for a fissure in the Earth somewhere outside Zurich, Switzerland where he’s spent much of the summer BASE jumping (Buildings, Antennas, Spans, and Earth) in his custom wing suit. From the top of a peak whose name also remains guarded by the wing suit cognoscenti, he jumped and flew forward for a minute and 20 seconds, dropping only a foot for every three feet forward. Not content to fly above The Crack, he dropped in deep for some Star Wars style groove cruising that should make your head spin. Hang on to the arms of your desk chair. (02:13)

A wingsuit would be the ultimate experience. To be able to fly as a bird would, how awesome. Dangerous as could be tho, especially when flying so low to ground.

Wish I could do this some day. Great job Jeb. I like that you went in between two peaks that are so close together, that the only way to know what it's like to fly through them, is to use a suit. Which means, you have just completed something that no one else has ever done since humans have existed. Flown inbetween a more narrow gap between two rock faces than any other person with a plane, or other device with a human on board.
But, that music doesn't fit the video at all. What language are they speaking? Was the video taken in the mountains of India or something? There are literally over 1000 genres of music. You couldn't find one that provided the same aural effect, without being from India? How about the original audio?

This is pretty radical. Very "Batman-esque", haha. I'd love to try something like that.

Awesome and sick! Do these guys think that helmet really matters, short of aerodynamics? Tell us more about how that film was shot! How was it chased? Must be one amazing rush.

That's crazy!!
"From the top of a peak whose name also remains guarded..."
Not much of a secret there. I already know the name of that location. I'll keep it secret though, out of respect.
Wish I had one of those suits...

Hello Mr. Jeb Corliss can i jump with you one of these days?
Posted by mike concepcion on September 15,2010 | 10:49 PM
This is right outside of Walenstadt,Switzerland. Hinterugg or Chaserugg peaks. Thats what 5 minutes of searching for Zurich on google earth, and matching the topography can do.

Amazing. I have that song and it's not my first choice for this video, but for those that want to know it is called Chaya Chaya. It is a Indian Bollywood song. Enjoy!

push the limits over wise we will never know what that limit is.. an inspiration for mankind!

I am from India, but I feel the background Bollywood film song is unsuitable to this magnificent video.

Incredible! And I am equally impressed by the chase flight video footage - amazing! My guess is that Jeff must have been doing about the same flying as Jeb, and carefully filming also. As is the case in many adventure videos, the cameramen typically don't get nearly enough credit.

Hi, i am from Hungary! The music a little bit sensationalist; with original sound would be more interesting. Re5pect for Jeb!
Posted by egrifaszi on October 10,2010 | 05:31 PM
What is the relevancy of the music to this video? I really like classical Indian music but the pop piece chosen for this video is just distracting. It has the feel of a video clip from YouTube with this sound track.
Posted by Paul Janders on October 12,2010 | 07:40 PM
Great video! Mr. Corliss. You have a lot of skill and more courage than I in dropping through the "slot" on the way down. As far as the background music is concerned, the selected choice was just OK but could have done better with some Enya songs perhaps or some "new age" pieces. Overall, your flying was AWESOME!!!

Terrible music to play with this. Great photography, though.

Who cares about the music? That was Bitchin'!!!!!
I want to try.

I used to fly some of the earlier hang gliders. My first was an Eipper 19x17 with 180 sq.ft. of wing area. It had an L/D of about 4/1. Its amazing to me that the 30 or so square feet of wing area possessed by the suit can achieve an L/D nearly equal to the 6 fold larger hang glider.
