The X47-B's Debut

The X-47B, an unmanned combat vehicle built as a demonstration aircraft for the U.S. Navy, had its inaugural flight at California's Edwards Air Force Base on February 4, 2011. The Navy hasn't committed to an operational vehicle, but is planning for the X-47B to make an unmanned aircraft carrier landing in 2013. Video: US Navy/ Northrop Grumman (01:04)

I just saw this craft as a static display in San Diego at the 100th anniversary of Naval Aviation. It was very interesting to say the least.

Come on now, lets be honest about this, they aren't going to wait two years for carqualing the bird. It has probably made a couple dozen launches and traps already and 100 of them are probably already on order!

The shape of the one in the movie skyline looks better than this--more minimalist in design rather than a cut on the tip of the wing which add more turbulence.
