Bill Dana Profile

Bill Dana was the last pilot to test-fly the X-15, but it was hardly the last contribution he made to flight research. In a NASA career spanning almost 40 years, Dana flew everything from the F/A-18 to the M2-F3 Lifting Body. This NASA video was made on the occasion of Dana’s being awarded the agency’s Distinguished Service Medal in 1997, a year before his retirement. Video: NASA (8:54)
