3rd Annual Air & Space Photo Contest
Comet Lovejoy, Taos

In January 2015 Comet Lovejoy (C/2014 Q2) appeared for several days near the Pleiades star cluster in the southeastern sky at night as seen from the northern hemisphere. This is one of the “closest” approaches Lovejoy made to the Pleiades, though the stars and the comet are over 420 light years apart. Photographed from a road outside of Taos, New Mexico.
