Two AV-8B Harrier IIs of VMAT-203 based at MCAS Cherry Point join up with a VMGR-252 KC-135J Hercules tanker for in-flight refueling over the Atlantic Ocean. June 2014.
"The Harrier, with its ability to take off and land vertically, has intrigued me since I was a child," says Youmans. "I followed its development from when the Hawker P.1127 and Kestrel were flying. A few years ago I had the opportunity to photograph Harriers from Marine Attack Training Squadron 203, from the open ramp of a KC-130. I've since had other opportunities to fly with the Marines, and '203' has remained a favorite subject. Here, two AV-8B Harrier IIs of VMAT-203, based at MCAS Cherry Point, join up with a KC-130J tanker for in-flight refueling."
