Berlin Airlift in Miniature

Photographer Kevin Wolf visited the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri last year. The permanent collection includes a section dedicated to the 1948 Berlin airlifts, which kept food and supplies flowing into West Berlin while the Soviet Union tried to starve them out in an attempt to control the entire city. In the museum, hundreds of model airplanes hang from the ceiling as a frightful reminder of the beginnings of the Cold War.
